Ladies Who Lunch (at Toula)
Every year in July, some of Toronto’s top restaurants open their doors for Summerlicious, a culinary festival of fabulous three-course prix fixe menus at reduced price points.
It’s a great opportunity to enjoy fine dining and taste new dishes, so we try to take advantage every summer.
This year the five of us made lunch reservations at Toula, a restaurant with a killer view perched high atop a hotel, overlooking the waterfront.
That’s me! I’m wearing a sleeveless coral peplum top with a black bandage skirt, black heels, gold statement necklace, and bright coral sunnies, in case you were wondering. ;)
None of my photos of the view really do it justice, but it was beautiful: the waves glittering in the sunlight as yachts and sailboats gently cruised by.
We were all pretty excited when the appetizers arrived. The salads were gorgeously plated, but I ordered the gazpacho soup instead.
It was delicious. Chilled gazpacho is the perfect antidote to a hot summer’s day, because it’s cool and refreshing. Wendy had the same!
For my entrée, I had the black truffle stuffed cornish hen. Need I say more?
As a group we were split: half of us went with the cornish hen, and the rest the Mediterranean pan-seared sea bass.
They were both incredible, but I was happy with my choice. I’ve been eating so much fish lately, it was nice to have a change of pace.
Without any further ado, we all happily tucked in.
For dessert, I had their “special tiramisu”. Definitely the highlight of the meal: soft, creamy, and luscious. Very special indeed!
After that luxurious meal, we all enjoyed the sunshine by taking a stroll down the boardwalk. Walk it off, ladies.
A delicious day, in every sense of the word. xx
