Fall/Winter Movies I Want to See

image

I’m a film buff for many of the same reasons I love to read. Good films have the ability to transport you anywhere on Earth (even beyond it!), past, present, or future; and they allow us look out at the world through the eyes of all kinds of people. Movies allow us to forget ourselves and our surroundings for a while and try on different lives, as easily as trying on hats.

All that for the price of a movie ticket. A pretty good deal, if you ask me.

My enormous love for movies means that right about now is my favorite time of the year. I look forward to the fall/winter movie season because it’s when all the best movies are released: the hard-hitting Oscar contenders. The movies that reach out of the screen and touch your soul, tickle your humanity, and possibly even change your perspective on the world.

Two hours later, you’re stumbling blearily out of that dark, sticky-floored room a little different than when you walked in. Those kinds of movies are my favorite: the ones that change who you are. I know that’s how I felt watching The Butler, my favorite film of 2013 so far. (My favorite of 2012 was Cloud Atlas, if you were wondering!)

Though I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a few of the movies on my ever-growing list already, here are the ones I’m most thrilled to see as the year wraps up.

Which movies are you most excited to see? xx
