I loooove breakfast and breakfast foods, but I hardly ever eat it. Most mornings, I wake up, get ready, and fly out the door as quickly as possible. But if it’s a weekend or a day I’m working from home, I love spending a few minutes putting together a beautiful (and super delicious) breakfast to start the day.
While I’m not strictly vegan (or strictly anything), I do try to ensure the majority of my meals are plant-based. Here are a few of my go-to quick and easy breakfast options. (more…)
I’m obsessed with poke bowls, and I order them all the time. However, what I’m not obsessed with are the tofu poke bowls most restaurants offer. See, raw salmon and tuna have an inherent flavour, so those bowls are tasty even without the fish being marinated or drenched in a sauce. But when tofu is served up that same way – plain – it’s bland as hell. And we don’t do bland in this household. (more…)
It’s almost Valentine’s Day! If you’re looking for something cute to make for your boo thang, or a totally instagrammable Galentine’s party food, I’ve got just the trick. This vibrant pink pasta with beets (complete with little beet hearts!) is healthy, vegan, dairy-free, and oh-so-delicious. And if you’re in a time crunch, read to the end – I’ve got a coupon for $10 off your groceries plus free delivery! More time snuggling and less time last-minute stressing at the grocery store. My best friend and I booked a girls’ trip to Mexico in March! I’m so tired of Toronto’s cold winter weather, can’t wait to lay on a beach, soak up the sun, and eat my body weight in tacos and guac. I’ve been so into the vacation spirit, I even signed myself up to a beginner’s salsa class! Turns out I’m much better at eating it than dancing it.
Anyway, if you want to get into the spirit with me and celebrate Taco Tuesday, here are my 2 recipes for easy vegan cauliflower tacos. They’re delicious, quick to whip up, and made with only good things. Whether you’re an omnivore, eating dairy-free, or are a strict vegan – you’ll love these rainbow taco beauties. (more…)
I know, I know – the holidays are behind us so this post is a little late. But I made these holiday sides for Christmas Eve, instead of a month ahead of time like a ~*good blogger*~. Sorry, okay!?
All 3 of these easy holiday side dishes are plant-based and super healthy, so you can feel good about eating them all year long, while sticking to any resolutions you may have made. And you can always pin these recipes to make next Christmas! (more…)
Christmas may be over, but the holiday season isn’t just yet. You’ve still got a few good days left before those darn New Year’s resolutions kick in, so why not take advantage of them and enjoy this indulgent treat? (Your body won’t know. I promise, this is scientific.)
This white chocolate fruit and nut bark is super easy to make and you (or your recipient) won’t be able to get enough of it. (more…)
Few cocktails taste so much like Christmas than a spiced rum apple toddy. There are many different takes on hot toddy recipes, but this one’s my personal favourite. I served these up at my recent Christmas party (post to come!) and they were a big hit. They’re simple to whip up, delicious, warm, festive, and surprisingly potent. (more…)
If you, like me, love indulging in delicious holiday treats all through the month, but are still trying to eat kind of healthy, I’ve got just the recipe for you. There’s nothing more swoon-worthy or festive than dark chocolate Christmas bark, and since this one’s made with 79% dark chocolate and loaded with healthy nuts and dried fruit, it gets to stay off the “naughty” list.
It all started with a question: can you microwave an egg? I did what anyone with a thought in their head and working internet connection would do: I Googled it. As it turns out, you can microwave an egg. I skimmed through a few recipes that included this method, from quiches to complex frittatas, some of which were made in a mug. When I saw that, an idea began to take shape in my mind, and a recipe was born. I call it the Smoked Salmon Egg Frittata Breakfast Burger, and it’s ah-maz-ing. (more…)
I’ve been trying to eat really healthy again over the past month, and while most of it has been smooth sailing, the thing that’s been the hardest to say goodbye to are processed sugar and fat-laden desserts, like cakes, brownies, and ice creams. Since munching on fruit just wasn’t cutting it when it came to my dessert cravings, I decided to invent a solution. (more…)
It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted a recipe! This is what I served the other night when I had my relatives over for dinner at my apartment. (more…)
With autumn just around the corner, this end-of-summer recipe takes full advantage of ingredients that are currently in season before they disappear for the long, cold winter: watermelon and berries.
This salad is both beautiful and refreshing, making it an ideal side dish for summer entertaining, or a light and healthy meal for one. (more…)
Avocados are the bees’ knees. They’re so good, they practically don’t need anything else added to them. But combined with a few simple ingredients, whipping up a yummy & healthy guacamole is easy as pie. (more…)
You really can’t screw up scrambled eggs. (Though Gordon Ramsay would disagree.)
They’re quick, delicious, and fuss-free. And as great as plain ‘ol scrambled eggs are, adding in some veggies makes them even better. You won’t even notice you’re eating something healthy! (more…)
