The Quarantine Chronicles
– Wonder Woman cosplay details here –
Well hello there! Our world is quite a bit different than it was the last time I posted, so I thought I’d check in. As I write this, I’m on day 11 of self-isolation and social distancing – meaning I stay at home and only go out for walks (usually through nature) or occasionally to buy necessities from the store. To be perfectly honest, this isn’t a drastic change for me. (more…)
Postcards from Cancun, Mexico
Canadian winters are long and brutal. When we say “it’s cold”, we’re not talking -3 degrees Celsius. We’re talking -30. I was desperately tired of being wrapped up in layers, bundled against the cold. And after not travelling in almost 5 years, I was overdue for a bit of sun, and a real vacation. I wanted to feel the warmth on my skin and dip my toes in the sea. (more…)
A 1920s Gatsby Christmas Party
The Roaring Twenties. The Prohibition Era. The Jazz Age. This year, our office Christmas party was 1920s-themed. The invitations were delivered, beautifully designed in Art Deco style. The gentlemen and ladies were instructed to pick an alias and “dress to kill” – we were going to a speakeasy. There would be an open bar, catered food, a casino, and dancing. What better way is there to end the year? (more…)
Halloween Cocktail Party
Last Saturday night, I hosted a little Halloween cocktail party at my apartment for a few close friends. Halloween, both for kids and adults, is half about the junk food, and half about dressing up – so I had to make sure both elements were present at my party. (more…)
Brunch in the Afternoon
A little while ago, I hosted brunch at my apartment for a few of my closest friends. The great thing about hosting is that you get to set the rules of the game. In this case, it meant that for one day, everyone had to operate on Sara time.
That meant brunch – in the late afternoon. (more…)
Darcy & Me
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman in possession of a small apartment must be in want of a cat.
Ever since reading Pride and Prejudice, I knew I was destined to fall for a Darcy. And wouldn’t you know it? That’s exactly what happened. (more…)

Apartment Tour: Living Room
“I feel so intensely the delights of shutting oneself up in a little world of one’s own, with pictures and music and everything beautiful.” — Virginia Woolf
This post has been a long time coming, and I greatly appreciate the patience you’ve all had with me. I’ve wanted to show you my new place for ages, but wanted to a) mostly finish decorating, and b) show my closest friends in person first. Keeping it off the blog until now has been a major exercise in restraint, believe me. (more…)
D.I.WHYYY and 50 Shades of White
This isn’t a proper post. More of a teaser for what’s to come.
Today I spent about nine hours painting non-stop. 12 hours if you count running around town getting supplies. Why? Because the painter I hired to paint my new apartment completely stood me up. (more…)
Apartment Inspiration!
I like so many different styles of interior decor that I’m kind of panicking about having to settle on just one for my apartment. (more…)
How To Have A Lovely Day
I’ve decided to have a perfect day. Sure, I have a final exam tomorrow, but I’m off today with absolutely no plans, and I’m going to make the most of it.
It’s currently 9:30 in the morning, and this is what I’ve done so far. I will update this post in real time, as the day progresses!
1. Wake up bright and early, alarm clock-free. (more…)
