Happy New Year! I hope you had a marvellous time last night, however you spent it. Since I am basically a magpie in human form, New Year’s Eve is the perfect reason to break out the sparkliest New Year’s Eve party dress I own, or more realistically, a great excuse to buy a new one.
It’s my birthday! And this lucky lady had two birthday parties, one on Friday night, and one on Saturday. I celebrated twice last year too, because I have two major groups of friends, each with their own uniquely wonderful and hilarious group dynamic. I find it simpler and more fun to have separate events rather than trying to blend the groups together. (Plus, who doesn’t want two birthday parties!?) (more…)
I love a classic silhouette, and many of the outfits on this blog feature figure-hugging midi dresses. I think they’re beautiful on every body type, and perfect for office holiday parties – particularly if you want to dress a little more conservatively while still feeling fancy and looking great. I love party season. Mid-November until the first of January is a dazzling whirlwind of holiday parties, my birthday, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. So many reasons to dress up! And as anyone who knows me knows – I’ll take any excuse. (more…)
Greetings from Themyscira! So, are you surprised I dressed up as Wonder Woman for Halloween this year? No? Huh.
Read on for all the details on this costume/cosplay, including all the product links, my tips and tricks, and photos of me pretending to fight things. (more…)
I’m baaaaack! And just in time for Halloween. You didn’t think I’d miss an opportunity to play dress up, did you? I’ve dressed up as many iconic fictional females, from Holly Golightly to Lara Croft to Hermione Granger to Belle. This year, I went for the original Disney princess: Snow White. (more…)
Happy Monday! I hope you all had wonderful, relaxing weekends that made the most of the sunshine. My weekend was filled with wine, old friends and new, Italian food, laughter and gossip on patios, and birthday celebrations. (more…)
This spring I’ve been doing something more brave than usual: I’m wearing white. I love the way white looks in an outfit, but when you’re as much of a hazard to yourself as I am, wearing it is a big risk. (more…)
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a smashing time ringing in 2016 with your friends or loves last night. Now that we’re all in bed, browsing the internet and nursing our collective hangovers, let’s talk about fashion.
New Year’s Eve is both one of my favourite nights of the year and one of my favourite nights to dress for. It is without a doubt the sparkliest holiday, and I try to take full advantage. (more…)
Holiday party season continues, as does my love affair with 1950s fashion. It truly is my favourite decade for feminine style, followed closely by the 1940s. That’s why I combined a 1940s Rita Hayworth-inspired hairstyle with a 1950s Marilyn Monroe-inspired little red dress for this glamourous evening look. (more…)
*Gasp!* An outfit post! I know, it’s been a minute. But every time I do a poll asking which of my blog post types is your favourite, outfit posts seem to come out on top, so I’m doing my best to oblige. Anyway, I recently hosted a Christmas cocktail party at my apartment for some friends from the office, and since I was going all Stepford-y with the food and drinks I prepared (stay tuned for that post), I figured I’d do the same with my outfit of the evening. (more…)
Halloween is one of the holidays I look forward to most each year. While many people like to embrace all things spooky and dark, I pretty much just love the excuse to dress up as one of my favourite characters. So, maybe that’s not quite the essence of Halloween, but… (more…)
The Roaring Twenties. The Prohibition Era. The Jazz Age. This year, our office Christmas party was 1920s-themed. The invitations were delivered, beautifully designed in Art Deco style. The gentlemen and ladies were instructed to pick an alias and “dress to kill” – we were going to a speakeasy. There would be an open bar, catered food, a casino, and dancing. What better way is there to end the year? (more…)
Last year, at Halloween, I dressed up as Disney’s Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, and Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The year before, I went as Hermione Granger. This year, I continued my trend of dressing up as my favourite fictional females, and went as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider from the video games and films. (more…)
